GCHS is a contracted stray hold facility and our first priority is to take in homeless animals. Therefore, we are what is called a “limited admission” shelter. We can only take non-stray animals that we believe we can find homes for. Getting an animal moved through the shelter expediently is one of our main goals in this situation. Why? We think the shelter is a great place to land, but the best place for any animal is in a loving home. 

Many pets who have only known home life do not do well in the shelter environment, so we ask that you exhaust your options before making the decision to surrender. Talk to family and friends. Consider breed rescues, which foster animals in home environments before adoption to a new home.
