St. Victor School Penny War
Thank you
to St. Victor School and their penny war for raising money to help the animals of
Green County Humane Society!
Each grade
had a bucket, in which the goal was to have the most pennies. Students from other
grades could put silver coins in one another’s buckets, which were subtracted from
the total number of pennies. The second grade class, the only class with a positive
balance in their bucket, won the penny war. The students then got to vote between
six different charities and picked the Green County Humane Society to receive the
proceeds of the penny war.
In total,
St. Victor’s School raised over $700 for the shelter! Yesterday, Molly the St.
Bernard and Executive Director Deb Broge went to visit the school and were presented
with a check. Molly was such a huge hit that several students arrived at the shelter
after school to take a tour and visit the animals! Molly, Deb, and the winning
second graders are pictured.
A big
thank you to Mr. Wagner, who organized the penny war; Mr. Peters, for inviting us to
a really fun assembly; and, the entire student body of St. Victor School for being
such wonderful children! We must add a final thank you to Mr. Riddle, the director
of maintenance, as Molly drooled a whole lot on the gym floor!
